About Eric Dorr

I began in the silage industry working with Lallemand Animal Nutrition working in Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado and Texas.   While working for Lallemand I was one of the top sales producers in the US and I was there when Biotal Buchneri 40788 and Biotal Buchneri 500 silage inoculants were first launched.   Working for Lallemand introduced me to my first silage mentors, Dr. Bob Charley and also Dr. Limin Kung.

Next, I moved to Idaho, home to over 2 million head of cattle, where I was the first importer of Silostop, the original oxygen barrier plastic for silage, in the Western USA.   Here I began a long-term professional and personal relationship with Dr. Keith Bolsen.   I was honored when I was asked to serve on the Board of Directors for the Bolsen Safety Foundation.   Visit www.silagesafety.org for more information.

Then, I had a very successful career with Kemin Animal Nutrition and Health where I quickly became the top sales person in the Western US for both Kem LAC HD silage inoculant and FRESH CUT Plus alfalfa hay preservative.

In 2016, I joined CHR Hansen Animal and Plant Health and Nutrition.   CHR Hansen is recognized as one of the top producers of silage inoculants in the world.   Working for Hansen allowed me to greatly expand my horizons as I worked in sales, technical services and business development positions all related to silage.   In 2018, I worked in 20 states and 9 countries providing sales training and on-farm consulting services.  While at Hansen I developed the SiloSolve® S.A.F.E. program and I am a co-inventor of the patent pending SiloScope® device for measuring drive over piles.

I have performed countless producer meetings, on farm consults, and joint training meetings with organizations such as John Deere,  Michigan State University, Syngenta’s Enogen Corn, Dohrmann Enterprises, Claas, and KRONE.

As of December 2023, I founded Silage Consulting International to allow me to bring my decades of experience in silage management to solve problems for you and your company. Hire me to be your silage consultant.

A word from Silage Consulting International’s Partner Agronomist, Mr. Dave Sass of Homedale, Idaho.

A lifetime of work in the silage industry has given me a unique background in agronomy as it applies to feeding livestock.  A revelation in the industry was that “Cows Eat Corn!”  I was fortunate to work and learn under two of the pioneers in the forage industry, Dr. Wes Kezar and Dr. Bill Mahanna.

I started my agronomy career detasselling corn in central Illinois, and from there went on to work at two corn breeding stations and several seed production plants.  I moved to Idaho in 1991 and began working as a field agronomist for corn silage and other forages.

Working for Pioneer Hi-Bred, I was on the cutting edge of forage research.  I conducted research with Utah State demonstrating the value to beef backgrounding operations back when kernel processing was still new.

The team that I led in Idaho was recognized with many awards including: 4 national corn sales increase awards, 2 national Inoculant sales awards, 1 national opportunity crop and 1 national forage sorghum award.  As a result of this sales success, I was named a Leader of Distinction within Pioneer Hi-Bred.

As a Leader,  I developed training modules on how to sell seed for forage crops and how to sell through price objections.  Hiring a great team and training them consistently resulted in exceptional growth for the product lines.

Over the years, I advised multiple clients to great success in the National Corn Growers.  My clients were to achieve a National 2nd and two 3rd place awards for irrigated corn yields.   This track record of success has led to opportunities to consult internationally and around the country.  Assisting farmers and livestock producers get the best product and gain has been a passion of mine for the past 30 years.

I am excited to join Silage Consulting International as Partner Agronomist and I am ready to bring my expertise to work for you.
